Wired
MHL (Samsung SmartDock)
DisplayLink (NexDock)
DisplayPort/Slimport (Mirabook)
You can connect your smartphone to a monitor, a docking station, a TV or a video projector in several wired ways and protocols:
-
MHL, less and less used. You can find the supported devices here.
-
Displaylink uses USB OTG to forward audio and video on another screen. Displaylink is almost an universal solution because most phones embed USB OTG. Unfortunately, it doesn't charge the phone. You can find the supported devices here.
-
Displayport is trendy. Phones for PC usage such as Windows Phone embed this technology. It embeds all you need : audio/video forward, charge, peripherals as keyboard and mouse. You can find the supported devices here.
Wireless

You can connect your smartphone to a monitor, a docking station, a TV or a video projector with wireless connection. Actually, to use a wireless connection, without cursor lag, prefer some Wi-Fi Direct dongle we have tested, Miracast certified:
-
Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. You can find a product description here.
-
Actiontech Screenbeam products. You can find more details here.
This kind of wireless connection employs the peer-to-peer Wi-Fi Direct standard. You don't need an Internet connection to display on a remote screen.
